What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Browser storage works the same way, but it never leaves your browser. The site uses a little of each, and every one is listed below.

Cookies and storage I use

Necessary

Always on

These are browser storage entries, not cookies. They remember your cookie choice, so the banner doesn't ask again. They never leave your browser, and they can't be turned off.

  • silktideCookieChoice_necessary Until you clear your browser's site data

"true", which records that the site's necessary storage is on

  • silktideCookieChoice_analytical Until you clear your browser's site data

"true" or "false", your choice about analytical cookies

  • silktideCookieBanner_InitialChoice Until you clear your browser's site data

"1" once you've answered the banner, so it doesn't show again

Analytical

Only if you accept

Google Analytics sets these cookies only after you accept analytical cookies. They tell me which pages people read. Google keeps the data they collect for 14 months. The privacy policy explains what Google Analytics records.

  • _ga 2 years

A random ID that tells one visitor from another. It doesn't say who you are.

  • _ga_7F2NVFZC7J 2 years

Keeps track of your current visit

Managing your cookie preferences

Click the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of any page to change your choice. You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. The banner then asks again on your next visit.
